Balm of Gilead

Balm of Gilead

The ancient persimmon tree (not the Diospyros kaki) is a very rare aromatic tree.

The tree originates from the Arabian Peninsula, however the Jordan valley and the Ein Gedi area are the some of the only areas this special tree grows.

Recent medical studies have shown than persimmon tree boasts exceptionally rare qualities.

The leaves of the persimmon tree was one of the eleven ingredients of the temple incense (tzuri) while the oil was used for anointing the kings of Israel, the high priests and the utensils of the temple.
